The Council reaches these goals by organizing informative monthly events in Dubai, by publishing a quarterly newsletter, maintaining a website and by the publication and distribution within Dubai, the U.A.E. and elsewhere, of an annual Membership Directory. Membership is open to individuals and companies who are Canadian, or do business with Canada, or who have demonstrated an affinity towards Canada.<br /><br />The Canadian Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates (CBC) was established on March 31, 1993 as a non-profit organization. <br /><br /><u>The objectives of the CBC are:</u> </p> <ol> <li>To provide a forum for members in the UAE to meet regularly and exchange information<br /><br /></li> <li>To provide a bridge between Canadian companies and organizations dedicated to the development of trade between Canada and the Middle East<br /><br /></li> <li>To continue to build on the excellent relationship Canada enjoys with the UAE<br /><br /></li> <li>To assist Canadian companies and business people considering doing business in the UAE<br /><br /></li> <li>To increase our member's network by interacting with other business council and with the national business community in the UAE </li> </ol> <p> </p><br><b>Chairman's Message</b><br><p><img style="MARGIN-TOP: 2px; WIDTH: 167px; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 2px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 221px; MARGIN-RIGHT: 10px" border="0" hspace="0" alt="Marie-Josée Primeau - Chairman of CBC Dubai & Northern Emirates" src="http://www.cbcdubai.com/images/CBDGI125057688352.jpg" />As Chairman of the Canadian Business Council of Dubai and the Northern Emirates (CBC), I am proud to present to you the new Membership Directory for 2010-2011. On behalf of the Executive Committee, there is no doubt that we will be working very hard to serve the best interests of our new and returning Members. I am also looking forward to working with Sangita Bhatia, as Membership Coordinator, in order to provide the membership with high profile events and programs this coming year. </p> <p>The CBC is proud to announce our new and continuing Annual Maple Leaf Sponsors whose objective is to enhance the profile and quality of CBC events. As well as welcome our Consul General HE Kris Panday and Ambassador HE Ken Lewis. </p> <p>2009-2010 proved to be a very successful year of events & program including a trade mission to Fujairah led by His Excellency Consul General of Canada in Dubai Kris Panday. The CBC also held the Annual Big 5 Dinner including panel speakers from MEED, Arabtec, TDIC and ALDAR. The CBC also had the opportunity to receive Mr. Abdulla Al Awar, CEO of DIFC at a luncheon presentation sponsored by Lootah BC Gas.</p> <p>Apart from events, the CBC also achieved great success in Corporate Social Responsibility where the CBC donated nearly AED 70,000 to charity organizations, namely UNICEF and Manzil Center for Challenged Individuals. </p> <p>I truly believe that despite this challenging economic climate, UAE and the Middle East still remains an amazing growing environment with growth potential where Canadian corporations and businesses will thrive. Barcode Energy provide an educational coloring book for children to educate them concerning energy conservation onwards future and has printed 5000 copy of coloring book to be distribute among all UAE school in first stage. <br /><br />The main purpose of this idea and initiative is to educated students and children from early stage and teach them all elements and advantage of sun, solar and how to be free of CO2.<br />We are in the field with a growing concern to sustain energy resources that will be of the greatest importance of current limits. (Valid for 2 members) </p> <p><strong>Individual full membership</strong> is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada who are senior members and/or professionals of either Canadian or non-Canadian entities established in the U.A.E. </p> <p>If you do not qualify for the above Full Membership levels, the CBC also has an Associate Membership category. </p> <p><strong>Associate membership</strong> are individuals or companies who carry on, as a major business, an agency, distributorship, franchise or other representation for a Canadian business, or a joint venture or management contract with a Canadian business, or a business which is managed or operated substantially by Canadian professionals, or which otherwise has a special nexus with the Canadian business community. </p> <p>In all such cases, however, the application must be accompanied by a written request from the concerned individual or company requesting the Executive Committee to consider its application for Associate Membership.
